WJE Announces New Senior Principals

 

We are pleased to announce the following recent promotions to Senior Principal (pictured left to right):

Carl Baldassarra is one of the nation's leading fire protection and life safety experts. He joined WJE in September 2014 as Principal and Unit Manager of our new Fire Protection and Life Safety practice. During his nearly fifty-year career in fire protection engineering, he has contributed to the development of numerous national codes and standards, written and presented on a variety of fire protection topics, and worked on thousands of projects around the world. Carl is a licensed professional engineer in Arizona, Illinois, Kansas, New Mexico, and Wisconsin. He received his bachelor of science in fire protection and safety engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and holds a master of business administration from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

Matt Farmer joined WJE in 1986 in our Princeton, New Jersey, office. He has served as a principal investigator on numerous evaluations of concrete, steel, and timber structures as well as those involving clay, concrete, stone, and cast stone masonry. His practice is concentrated in the area of building enclosure systems engineering, design, investigation, analysis, and repair. Matt is frequently asked to consult on the design of specialized exterior wall cladding systems and to serve as an expert witness for construction-related litigation. He is a licensed professional engineer in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. He received a bachelor of science in architectural engineering and a bachelor of environmental design from the University of Colorado. He also holds a master of civil engineering from Cornell University.

Lee Lawrence joined WJE in 1999 in our Austin, Texas, office and is currently South Region Director. He has held numerous leadership positions in the company, including Unit Manager of our Austin office and Director of Practice Development. Lee has investigated and designed repairs for deterioration, distress, and failure of a wide variety of structures and construction materials. He has extensive experience evaluating concrete structures and material problems associated with strength deficiencies, environmental and chemical deterioration, and material incompatibility. Lee is a licensed professional engineer in Texas. He earned a bachelor of science in civil engineering and a master of science in civil engineering, both from the University of Texas at Austin.

Michael Lee joined WJE in 1994 in our Dallas, Texas, office. Lee has investigated and designed repairs for deterioration, distress, and failure of a wide variety of structures and construction materials. He has extensive experience evaluating concrete structures and material problems associated with strength deficiencies, environmental and chemical deterioration, and material incompatibility. Michael is a licensed professional engineer in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. He earned a bachelor of science in architectural engineering and a master of science in structural engineering, both from the University of Texas at Austin.

Jon McGormley joined WJE in 1994 in our Northbrook, Illinois, headquarters. Throughout his career, Jon has been involved with the structural evaluation and repair of deteriorated or distressed structures with a focus on transportation structures. He is routinely called as a global expert to assess the condition of structures after fire, storm, and impact damage and has evaluated numerous structure failures, serving as lead investigator to determine cause and origin. Jon is a licensed professional engineer in nine states as well as a licensed structural engineer in Illinois. He earned a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a master of science in civil engineering from Purdue University.
