Old Cook County Hospital Receives 2022 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation National Preservation Award
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has awarded the Old Cook County Hospital building with a 2022 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation National Preservation Award.
WJE served as the exterior envelope consultant for the adaptive reuse of the vacant hospital and was responsible for the design and oversight of the masonry facade restoration, including replacement of more than 4,000 units of terra cotta, window replacement, restoration of monumental wood windows, curtain wall replacement for the historic skylights, and roofing replacement for all roofs and balcony levels.
