West Side Market Clock Tower Receives Awards
The West Side Market Clock Tower in Cleveland has received the Distinguished Restoration of a Cultural Landmark Award and the AIA Cleveland Craftsmanship Award from the Cleveland Restoration Society and AIA Cleveland.
The clock tower is part of the West Side Market, a designated historic landmark that opened in 1912 and is Cleveland's oldest continuously operated, municipally owned market. We performed inspection, repair design, and construction phase services, which included close-up inspections of the brick masonry, terra cotta distress, glass clock face, and clock mechanisms using rappelling techniques on the tower's facades.
The project was honored at the recent Celebration of Preservation Awards, a joint program of both organizations recognizing outstanding achievements in historic preservation and cultural heritage in northeast Ohio.
