Webinar Recording: Navigating the California Seismic Ordinances
View a recording of WJE's recent webinar, Navigating the California Seismic Ordinances.
Beginning in December 2017, the City of Los Angeles began to issue Orders to Comply to owners of buildings that, by the City's determination, appear to fall under the scope of Ordinance No. 183893, "Mandatory Earthquake Hazard Reduction in Existing Non-Ductile Concrete Buildings" (the "NDC Ordinance"). Other California municipalities have enacted similar mandatory seismic ordinances and have started the compliance process.
In this one-hour webinar, WJE expert Conrad Paulson discusses the implications of this ordinance and others like it, including the potential impact on real estate transactions, the legally required timeline versus a realistic timeline for implementation of a retrofit, and the importance of due diligence and staying ahead of the curve.
By the end of the presentation, you will be able to:
- Recognize the key characteristics of a non-ductile concrete building
- Identify general steps in the process to full ordinance compliance
- Understand the realistic timeline to achieve full compliance with the ordinance
- Become aware of what obligations an owner might have when selling an NDC building
